Job Summary

The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership to programmes at DMI Centre and growing DMI Centre’s institutional funding portfolio. He/she will work closely with the DMI staff and Board to initiate new donor engagements and sustain relationships with current donors. He/she will advise and provide programmatic support on delivery of on-going programs/projects while ensuring compliance with donors’ and DMI Centre’s regulations. In consultation with DMI’s management and Board, the post holder will be expected to contribute to advocacy and enhancing DMI’s brand visibility.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership to the DMI Centre including but not limited to programs, finance, human and material resources.
  • Develop and submit high quality institutional and high value donor proposals, bids and concept notes that are aligned with defined priorities and demonstrate impact.
  • Identify new and non-traditional sources of funding from a range of institutional donors and work to leverage DMI’s funding prospects.
  • Support the development and implementation of DMI’s Resource Mobilization Plan.
  • Provide leadership in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs/projects.
  • Provide leadership in enhancing advocacy and DMI brand visibility
  • Represent DMI in key and strategic alliances and to ensure that DMI gains the necessary traction from potential partners.
  • Support the DMI Board in execution of DMI’s Strategic Plan
  • Undertake other roles as assigned by the DMI Board.

Key Performance Areas

  • Support DMI BOARD in execution of the DMI Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and implement DMI Resource Mobilization Strategy.
  • Establish programme development and resource mobilization activities.
  • Lead in contributing to concept and project development along DMI’s mandates.
  • Facilitate donor and stakeholder mapping at international, regional, national, county and sub-county levels.
  • Establish a donor engagement tracking platform and a donor knowledge management system(s) for purposes of donor acquisition and retention.
  • Gather intelligence about upcoming opportunities; develop and share opportunity-specific competitive intelligence analysis and technically support the DMI Board in grant management.
  • Support DMI Board in undertaking its mandate to identify strategic partners and platforms, conferences and meetings relevant for creating visibility of DMI’s work.
  • Prepare effective, compelling and competitive donor proposals and pitch for the same.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring on proposal/grant development to DMI staff.
  • Serve as Secretary to DMI Board.
  • Provide periodic reports and updates to the DMI Board
  • Oversee the day to day leadership of operations at the DMI Centre including but not limited to mentorship, training and supervision of staff.

Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s degree in public health, social or health sciences or a bachelor’s degree with an advanced diploma in Project Management. Requisite experience in senior program management will be an added benefit.
  • Training in and demonstratable track record in project management, fundraising and grant writing.
  • Five years’ experience working in health or related NGOs or managing donor funded programs three of which should be preferably in mid or senior level.
  • Certificate of good conduct is manadatory.
