PROJECT OFFICER

Job Summary

DMI Centre is seeking to recruit a Project Officer on an annual contract, with extension subject to funds availability and performance of the incumbent.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Prepare detailed activity plans in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Facilitation and implementation of planned activities through proper coordination and provision of technical support.
  • Organize and coordinate training activities for children with T1D and their parents in line with the project objectives.
  • Clients’ follow up and referrals on progress management.
  • Establish & create progress reports periodically.
  • Establish & create common understanding among project partners and ensure smooth implementation of the project.
  • Take part in program planning, proposal writing, documenting best practices and monitoring project activities.
  • Organizing and updating the necessary information, data and activities for the project.
  • Ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation of project activities are conducted and findings are documented fed into the planning process.
  • Organize outreach awareness and voluntary screening
  • Initiate and implement innovative activities.
  • Make sure that any budget request is prepared in detail and in line with the agreement and policy and also the plan in the project document.
  • Promote project and organization visibility.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial and legal information.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients/clients, staff, partners or others in a professional manner.
  • Perform other activities as per the need of the organization with guidance from the supervisor.

Qualification and Experience

  • BA degree in social sciences or related field or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in project management in a Diabetes/NCD organization.
  • The experience to include: Diabetes Education, Program Management, Health Policy advocacy among others.
  • Experience on gender and economic empowerment and NGO experience will be considered as an asset.
  • Valid practicing certificates where appropriate.
  • Valid certificate of good conduct is mandatory.
